Las Vegas Grand Canyon National Park Spring Break Plane Flights

By Belinda Shields

Have you been looking forward to spring break? Don't let your holiday plans fall flat. Instead choose a holiday activity that will really allow you to let loose and enjoy yourself. From Las Vegas, you can tour the breathtaking Grand Canyon, and there are affordable airplane tours ready to be booked today.

Two Unique Canyon Regions

When you fly from Vegas, you're not just limited to the nearby West Rim. Touring the South Rim is an option, too, and all you have to do is fly to Tusayan in Arizona to begin the tour. It would take hours to drive to the South Rim from Vegas, but you can fly there in about an hour.

The South Rim is known for being less crowded than the West Rim, so if you want to enjoy the scenic beauty in relative peace and quiet, then this is the place to go. When you choose an airplane tour, the complete package can include a bus tour through the National Park. The ground tour lasts about 2.5 hours, and you'll get to see the main highlights of the South Rim. The tour comes with pickup and drop off service at your hotel and it takes about ten hours to complete. You'll also have plenty of time to explore on your own, especially at the local tourist village where you can shop for crafts, souvenirs, and snacks.

If that's not enough fun and excitement, you can upgrade the tour further to include a helicopter flight over the rim. You can ride in a helicopter and fly to the North Rim and back. There is also a longer, fifty-minute tour that goes all the way to the eastern border of the park. You'll see a lot on the longer tour because it flies over approximately 75 percent of the Park. You'll even get to see the Dragoon Corridor, which is famous for being the deepest and widest part of the Canyon.

If you want to fly a little closer to Vegas, then you will enjoy the West Rim. It only takes around 30 minutes to get out there by airplane.

Sightseeing at the West Rim

When you fly out to the West Rim, you will be able to spend 2.5 hours exploring its trails and lookout points along the top of the rim. There's plenty of hiking for people of all levels - just make sure that you dress for the weather and wear some comfortable walking shoes. The West Rim is also home to the world famous Skywalk, the glass and steel platform that extends over the edge of the Canyon. It will have you standing 4000ft over the bottom. It's also a great place to get your picture taken.

You can upgrade to include a helicopter flight of the West Rim too. One of the more popular flights is the one that descends into the Canyon and lands near the Colorado River. This allows you to further upgrade your tour to include a float along the scenic river.

Buy Your Tour Early!

It will be busy at the Canyon over Spring Break, so buy your tour early so it isn't sold out. Try to get your seats booked at least two weeks ahead of your tour date. Use your credit card to buy your tour online and you can buy it as early as you want. Plus, the lowest prices are always online.

Conclusion

If you've been wondering what you should do this Spring Break, I hope that this article has given you plenty to get excited about. If you're going to the South Rim, I recommend that you add the longer helicopter tour that covers the eastern park boundary. At the West Rim, the bottom landing tour is definitely a highlight. Whatever you choose, have fun, and enjoy the most beautiful National Park that North America has to offer.
