Places To Visit On Wine Tours Dahlonega GA

By Harold Baker

When people think of wine tours and tasting in the United States, they often think of Sonoma first and foremost. And while this very gorgeous valley in California is a fantastic destination, people on the east coast don't always have time or money to travel that far. If that is the case, then consider wine tours Dahlonega GA the next time you want some vino without a long travel.

There are a number of mountains and foothills in the northern Georgia area that surround the Dahlonega area and make them unique. It creates soil and climate that is optimal for the growing of grapes, which the six local wineries then turn into thousands of cases of wine each year. These wineries also have many other offerings such as food and event spaces for rent.

Cavender Creek is one of the lucky six wineries that call these foothills home. They handcraft each bottle and pay special attention to quality, meaning they produce less bottles but with higher quality. You can taste that attention to detail in each drop of their cabernet sauvignons, American Nortons and petit Mansengs that they produce in small, artisan batches.

Formerly known as the Blackstock Vineyards, the Kaya Vineyard & Winery has reopened and re-branded at 5400 Town Creek Road. It is the largest in the region, and has a meeting/party space that can hold up to 300 people for large conferences or weddings, in addition to a behemoth 2,000 square foot covered deck usable in all seasons with live music. The tasting room has massive 12 feet windows that give you breathtaking views of the local foothills.

At 501 Hightower Church Road is the Montaluce Winery & Estates, which make you feel as if you have been swept away to Italy instead of Georgia. The reason is that great care has been taken to make the entire place, including the 25,000 square foot even facility, feel like a Tuscan villa.

The Wolf Mountain Vineyards & Winery is located at 180 Wolf Mountain Trail and features traditional European and southern cuisine in their restaurant, which are expertly paired with their wines. In fact, Wolf Mountain is known across the entire east coast as a wine destination, in part because their vintages have won over 150 medals in various U. S. Competitions. People also clamor to get a bottle of their famous Champenoise sparkling wine when it comes out each year.

Three Sisters Vineyards & Winery at 439 Vineyard Way, features a rock wall patio and crush pad deck for relaxing with a glass of their homemade vintages. They produce up to 4,000 cases of each vintage while still hosting weddings and engagement dinners on their sprawling 184 acre estate. The tasting room is a must-try destination on any tour of the area, especially since the were once voted as the Best Winery in the South. This is the oldest vineyard in the region, so you get a real sense of time and tradition there.

With just 57 acres, the Frogtown Cellars, located at 700 Ridge Point Drive, has manged to grow 25 grape varieties. If you want a large selection of wines to try and possibly buy, this is definitely the place for you. It has also been awarded with more medals than any of the other wineries, so you know all the vintages are of the highest quality.
