By Leslie Ball

Creating business cards requires planning. Aside from the design that you want it to have, you also need to take note of the branding. Deciding is one, having the right message included on it is another story. If you are someone assigned to create it, its vital that you know exactly the information that you need to include.

Cards are only some of the most common promotional materials that businesses like hotels use. They are portable and can easily be handed to a lot of people with ease. Much as how you prepare for the details inside the material itself, planning for the hotel key card sleeves design is just as important.

If before traditional keys are still the main access materials used in motels and hotels, now, these electronic key cards are more practical. They are easy to use and generally safer. Sleeves may be optional but they are considered important part of the package because of the protection that the provide. Before you create one, take time to think of the following.

Size. The sleeve acts as protection for the card so it should be created in such a way that cards will easily fit in and will not easily slide out. The size has to be slightly bigger than the card by about few inches just enough to provide convenience in placing it in and removing it.

Appropriate paper. There are different choices of paper at present. Some of them are thicker than the others. There are also products that are glossy while others have a rougher touch. All of these are good options. But you need to choose something that will look good on the design that you want it to have.

Logo. Any material used for business should never ever forget to carry the logo of the company. If you have enough space, you can include the full name of the hotel. Be reminded that the logo is your identity. One look and people will recognize you for it. Or, they can associate you with a unique service that your place is offering.

Design. This can be tricky if you are not a designer yourself. The sleeve can be as simple as plain white with few information, or as colorful as it can be using the outer photo of the hotel as the main background. No matter what design you choose, just make sure that it does not steal away the attention from the most important part of the sleeve.

Free space. This is usually the back portion and is intended for placing any kind of vital information. One good example would be a guest safety tips. Or you can place some information on the most popular activity offered by the hotel which you want your guests to try out.

Accessories may have minimal impact on the marketing strategy of the company. But when done right, it can sure do something to somehow promote the service. Do not miss the chance to get some message across your guests. Use the sleeve wisely as an avenue to reach out to them.
